Eliminating hopelessness and panics during emergencies
Since 2022, 4 the Jewel N U has been awarded the United Way’s Women United Transportation Fund Mini-Grant annually. This partnership assists clients, particularly:
- Victims who are homeless due to violence, with transportation needs such as bus passes, Lyft rides, gas cards, and the purchase of bicycles for those who need to walk more than three miles after getting off the transit bus to reach work on time.
- Elderly adults whose insurance does not cover transportation to medical appointments or grocery shopping.
Reliable transportation is crucial for these individuals, allowing them to access:
- Work
- School
- Medical appointments
- Training
- Other essential resources
This fosters social and economic growth.
4 the Jewel N U is grateful to partner with United Way of the Coastal Empire for WOMEN UNITED® to help eliminate transportation barriers for clients throughout the Coastal Empire. These barriers often impede access to other socioeconomic factors such as:
- Education
- Employment
- Healthcare
