I am Karen Denise Alston, the CEO and Founder of 4 the Jewel N U Global, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We say to victims of violence ‘We are here for you’ instead of asking ‘Why don’t you just leave.’ We are the voice of transition for victims to move from behind the closed doors of violence toward victorious survivorship from fear and ridicule to becoming an overcomer. Did you know, 1 in 3 women will experience sexual assault and domestic violence at some point in her life. I have experienced the pain firsthand and risen above the residue.
Our skilled team of volunteers provides confidential counseling, transitional financial support, and individualized resources as it relates from recognition to education, which equals prevention. You can also be the voice that empowers & educates not only victims, but their family members and our community.
Since Covid-19 shelters have decreased their capacity so that families have the necessary space to social distance and 16% of homeless persons are victims of domestic violence. When a victim of abuse has to leave in the middle of wet and cold winter night, wearing nothing but a torn night gown, packing a bag with the basic hygiene products, forget it … ?
